Le Chatelier School’s mission, since its inception in 1989, is to support the development of the all-round capacities of children,
while maintaining respect for social welfare and technological progression.Children are taught to reach their
highest potential throughwell-structured programs in academics, athletics and fine arts.
In light of the above, Le Chatelier School in its vision,mission and operation seeks to achieve this end:
To build young minds through its services which center round Knowledge, Truth and Love.
Le Chatelier School was first instituted in January 1989 as Le Chatelier Pre-School.
The Pre-school started with off with four students and in barely two months the strength rose to fourteen tiny-tots under the able guidance of Mrs. N. Chatelier who was then solely in charge of this project.
The 1st Annual Day was celebrated with Dr. Betty Chinniah as the Chief Guest. The Christmas function was celebrated with much grandeur.
By March 1990, the school shifted to a bigger campus as there was a demand for expansion from Pre-School to Grade 6, with a total strength of 90 children and with a teaching strength of ten teachers under the able guidance of our late founder, the correspondent then, Mr. T. E. Chatelier and his son, the administrator, Mr. Micheal Chatelier.
The school reopened in June 1990. It was during this year (90-91) that THE CHATELIER TRUST was formed.
The trustees being : Mr. T. E. Chatelier, Mrs. N. Chatelier, Mr. Glen V. Chatelier, Mr. Micheal Chatelier and Mrs. Petulia BM Joseph.
The trust was established with the objective of managing and running Le Chatelier School in the best interest of the public. During the year 90-91, the 1st Annual sports meet was conducted at the Lady Doak College grounds with Ms. Shanti Manuel as the Chief Guest, the then principal of the college.
Excellent progress was seen during the academic year in Education, Art & Craft, Extra Curricular Activities and all round development.
During the summer vacation of May 92, the school was offered the teacher’s home premises at 2, New Natham Road, Madurai 02, by the Teacher’s Association.
During the next academic year the strength of the school rose to 220 students. Now, the school could conduct its Annual Sports meet at its own premises. The chief guest was Mr. Davidar, Corporation Commissioner.
The school began its 4th academic year with the recognition from the Director’s office; Madras, for Grades 1 to 8. During this year the school’s first excursion trip took place for the children, covering Khaythar – Y. M. C. A Farm, Tirunelveli Science Center, Papanasam Dam and Courtrallam.
The School Cricket team played its 1st match against Chetna Matriculation School and won the game. The school has since, become a strong competitor on the field for many cricket tournaments.
The year 94-45 began with the 60th birthday celebration of the Founder and Trustee, Mr. T. E. Chatelier. Many competitions were held for the children – Elocution, Singing, Fancy Dress and Story Telling. Founder’s day is still a celebration held every year till date.
During the year 95-96, the school touched a strength of around 400 students with classes up to Grade 10, with recognition for all the classes granted by the Director of School Education, Madras.
Since the school’s inception, its students actively took part in social welfare activities such as Help Age India. The children were taught to use computers and were motivated to learn Karate, Gymnastics, Bharathanattiyam, vocal music and musical instruments like the guitar and keyboard.
The children from Grades 1 to 10 were divided into 3 houses – Mercury, Venus and Jupiter. All activities till date are conducted on a house basis with the highest points awarded to the best house. The winner received a Rolling Cup from the management – the T. E. Chatelier Rolling Cup which is still passed on to the winning House of each academic year.
Today, Le Chatelier School is one of the leading and most prominent institutes in Madurai. It has acquired an alumnus of successful individuals over the decades, commonly known as Le Chatelites.
Through the years, the students of the school have learnt exemplary communication skills, being both charismatic and well-informed.
The school has become a second home to many and continues to enable many children to strive for greatness and perseverance, to discover their true potential.
